The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes - a review

What can I say about this book? It absolutely blew me away. I read it when Zeb was tiny and Evan was at home for homeschooling because of Lockdown. It was a difficult time but this book gave me an escape.
I love JoJo Moyes, ever since Me before You which was not what I thought it was going to be I know her books will be rich stories and full of twists and turns.
As a librarian people are always tagging me in posts about the Pack Horse Librarians so I vaguely knew about them but I did not know the details of why they did what they did and how. I have also since reading this become really interested in the Appalacian mountains and the people who live there, this book is definitely one that makes you want to learn more.
This book is very well researched behind the wonderful stories of love and friendship. It highlights how brilliant it is to find "your people" but also the importance of reading in opening up possibilities and empowering people in an unequal society, there is a reason suppressive regimes don't want to educate the people they want to control and that is wrought large in The Giver of Stars.
